Our Prayer this Week
First day of school prayer (a parent's prayer)
Heavenly Father,
We give you our hopes, worries and fears as our children start school. We pray that you will fill their hearts with excitement and calm their worries with your love. Please go before them, help them make friends, enjoy the activities and build relationships with their teachers and carers.
May we learn to entrust them each day into your care, and as we do may they grow in confidence and independence. Father, may joy abound in their hearts as they enter this new exciting season of their lives.
In Jesus name.
Amen.
From the Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2023 school year.
It was great to welcome back our students this morning and it was wonderful to see them approach the new school year with such excitement and enthusiasm.
Personally, I would like to thank the parents who made me feel so welcome this morning. It was lovely to meet with some of you over a cuppa during our Welcome Morning Tea this morning. I look forward to getting to know all of you so next time you are in the school please track me down and say hi.
I would like to make a special mention to the four new familes we are welcomng into our school community this year.
Zeke Pyers and his parents Ari and Adam
Jemmah Keirl and her parents Christine and Wayne
Rocky Kenny and his parents Danielle and Charles
James and Nora O'Reilly and their parents Shayne and Justin.
I am sure you will all make them feel most welcome and they will love their time being a part of this community.
In 2023, we also welcome back Bridget Van Den Broek who returns from maternity leave to teach in the Senior Room on Monday to Thursday.
We welcome Anna Bourke who has taken on the role of Phys Ed teacher and she will be working in the Senior Room on Fridays.
Finally, St Colman's is very proud to welcome back former student Olivia Glossop who has taken on the role of our Trainee for 2023. I am sure she will find working here an invaluable experience during her Gap Year.
I am delighted to be at St. Colman's, working amongst so many dedicated and professional people. I welcome and appreciate the positive energy I can sense within your school as we all work towards achieving excellence in education and I look forward to working with the families and their children. From what I have seen so far, all signs are pointing toward another successful and productive school year.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions, concerns or suggestions you may have.
Kind regards,
Janet

Each week during our Friday assemblies, teaching staff award students who have achieved great things in the past week. This is the place where we recognise and celebrate our award recipients from the previoius week.
Happy Birthday!
We wish Isabella a happy birthday, she was our first birthday in 2023.
Happy birthday this week to Gus, who celebrates his 9th birthday on Tuesday.
Out of School Care
A reminder that during 2023 we have access to Out of School Care, supplied by TheirCare, at Mortlake College. Registration is made via the TheirCare website. https://theircare.com.au/
Children will catch the bus to and from Mortlake College to St Colman's. Children who are not usual bus travellers will need to complete a Bus Form to obtain permission to travel on the bus. Please contact the school to obtain this form.
Once you have booked your days and times in, please inform Jane or Janet at the school office. This is so we can ensure your child is put on the After School Care bus when needed.
Feel free to contact the office if you have any questions about accessing TheirCare or use the contact details at the bottom of the flyer to contact them directly.
Forms and Fee Accounts for 2023
Welcome back everyone.
I am busy getting things organised for the new year and I plan to have information regarding school fees, uniform, lunch orders etc. sent out as an eNewsletter by Friday at the latest. I will also be emailing your school fee accounts. If you have any questions in the meantime, please give me a call or send an email.
Jane Lee
New PAM accounts
In 2023, all parents will be given a new PAM account. Instead of having one account per family, each parent will have their own account. Many of you will already have received an email asking you to set a new password for your account. Please complete this task as soon as possible. If you are having any problems with your new account, please contact Jane.
Meals on Wheels Roster
St Colman's is rostered on to do Meals on Wheels for one week, once per term. In term one, our week is 13th to 17th February and in term two, our week is 1st to 5th May.
In 2022, we had a small band of volunteers who helped out almost every term. We would love to expand this group in 2023 so please consider volunteering for this very worthwhile task. Our grade six children will assist you and you will find it a very satisfying thing to do. Please contact Jane if you are interested.
Instrumental Students Wanted!!
I have several vacancies this year so if you would like your student to learn a musical instrument, you can book them in now! I teach all ages, from Prep to Year 6, and offer different lengths of lessons to suit them. The main instruments that students learn are piano and guitar, but I also offer flute, violin, recorder, trumpet, saxophone and clarinet. If your student in interested in anything not on that list, feel free to enquire.
If you would like more information, please contact me on 0417559235. If I don't answer, please message me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
