Term 4 Week 11 Monday 14th December
Our Prayer This Week
From the Principal
Dear parents and members of our community,
I would like to express my sincere congratulations and thanks to all of the members of our school community for the way they have responded to the challenges this year has presented. Our students, parents, staff and parish members have all worked incredibly hard to look after the learning and wellbeing of one another. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a restful holiday.
End of Year Celebration
Our end of year celebration and mass is tonight at 6:30pm in the St Colman's church. All families are welcome to attend and we look forward to the opportunity to do the following:-
- Graduation of our Grade 6 students
- Announce our school leaders for 2021
- Farewell families leaving our school
- Welcome our new foundation students
- Farewell staff leaving us
- Sing some Christmas carols
There will be NO supper after the service due to current restrictions.
We are asking parents to have a final look for any library books at home today so that they can be returned to school over the next two days. In an attempt to support families during remote learning many books were sent home and as a result many of these are now missing.
As the year concludes we thank the following families who have
formed an important part of our community, we appreciate your
support and commitment to our school;
Justin and Narelle Rasmussen
Jody and Nicole Shepherd
We also farewell and thank the following staff who are not returning to St Colman's next year;
We bid farewell to Fr Gerry who is moving north to the west wimmera region and hope that he settles quickly into his new community. Thank you for all your support and care for our community in your time with us Gerry.

The Big Day
The whole St Colman's community would like to express their best wishes to Rosie and Eamonn on their wedding day on Tuesday the 29th of December. We hope it is a wonderful family celebration now that restrictions have been eased and we look forward to seeing Mrs O'Connor on her return to school next year.
The 3/4 students had a fantastic camp last week with fun and excitement across the two days. Thank you to Shandell and Ebony for giving of their time and energy to make this such a success.
Our junior excursion last Friday was a great opportunity for learning and personal growth for the children as they spent the day moving from activity to activity across an extended day. Thank you to Bridget, Pauline, Jenny and Anna for their great effort on the day.
Yesterday was a perfect way for the senior class to end the year together with bowling, fun at Lake Pertobe and surfing. Thank you to Rosie and Brianna for their energy and enthusiasm on the day.
Transfer of Governance
The transfer of governance of all Ballarat diocese schools from a local parish level to Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited (DOBCEL) took place last Thursday the 10th of December. Thank you to Fr Gerry, Rosie, Jane and the school captains for representing our school community at this ceremony. Tom Sexton, our new director of Education for the Ballarat Diocese and Terry Harney were the DOBCEL Board members in attendance for the ceremony.
