Term 2 Week 4 Monday 10th May
Our Prayer This Week
From the Principal
Dear parents and members of our community,
We hope that all our mothers and grandmothers had a lovely day yesterday with their families and loved ones.
30 Years Celebration
Catholic Education Ballarat recognises staff service to our schools by presenting an award for 30 years of service. Jenny Stapleton has reached this milestone and this will be presented with her certificate at a special dinner in Ballarat on Friday evening. Congratulations Jenny and thank you for all you have done for St Colman's over this time.
Athletics Success
Congratulations to Ava, Billie and Noah for the way they represented our school at the Division Athletics last Friday.
Ava came third in the Shot Put with a throw of 6.87m
Billie came third with a Triple Jump distance of 5.85m
Noah came fifth with a Triple Jump distance of 6.13m
The two girls will move to the next level of competition held in October. Thank you to the parents for taking the children to Warrnambool on a school closure day.
St Colman's Cross Country
Thank you to our grand parents, parents, staff and students for your ability to be flexible with the running of our 2021 St Colman's cross country. With the weather closing in, we decided to run the event on the school grounds rather than Tea Tree Lake. The children loved the opportunity to compete for their team and enjoyed the run. Red house (Waratah) were the winners this year. The following students have qualified for the District cross country at Noorat next Friday the 14th of May. Lacey, Alex, Will C, Cooper F, Mason, William D, Kate, Ashlee, Billie, Noah, Spencer, Layla, Arlo, Ava, Maddi and Pippa.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN testing commences this Tuesday May 11th for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. Students will complete assessments:-
LANGUAGE CONVENTIONS and WRITING Tuesday 11th
READING Wednesday 12th
NUMERACY Thursday 13th
We know this is only a snapshot of each child's learning at this point in time and it will be kept very low key to ensure stress levels remain low.
SAC Meeting
We will conduct our next SAC meeting tonight, Monday the 10th of May at 7pm at school. At this meeting we will be discussing changes to the winter uniform so if you have any thoughts or suggestions, please speak to a board member or school so that you can help inform our decisions.
Meals on Wheels next week
St Colman's School is rostered on for Meals on Wheels next week. Could you please complete the survey if you are able to volunteer for one or more days?
